Rapid Response for Drought-Affected Communities

Ceelaf-weyn District, Sanaag Region

Project Overview

When severe drought strikes, communities are often left without basic survival necessities. This ongoing rapid response project directs immediate emergency relief and life-saving resource distribution to the hardest-hit areas in the Sanaag region. Our focus is mitigating the most acute impacts of drought on highly vulnerable families.

Objectives

Activities

Our rapid deployment teams coordinate weekly water trucking deliveries to strategically located distribution centers. We distribute concentrated food rations, essential hygiene kits, and emergency livestock feed, ensuring an equitable allocation process prioritizing the elderly, women, and children.

Impact & Results

Being an ongoing initiative, this project acts as a vital lifeline. Thousands of individuals now receive consistent, safe drinking water, successfully curbing the outbreak of waterborne diseases. The emergency fodder distribution has stabilized the mortality rate of pastoral herds, preserving community assets.
